“When Republican lawyer Monique Pardo Pope announced her candidacy for the Miami Beach Commission in May, she described herself as coming from a working-class Cuban family that believed in deep sacrifice, service to others, and standing up for what is right.”

Pope was lying.

The reality is that Pope’s late father was a disgraced, former corrupt cop who had swastikas on his walls and a swastika tattooed on the family Doberman aptly named Satan. Arrested when she was 4, Pope’s Nazi-loving father was a serial killer who brutally murdered nine people, and he said he would have murdered more if given the chance. He was executed for his crimes when she was 31.

We don’t know about you, but it doesn’t sound like any Cuban family we know.

However, when confronted about her lie about her family background, Pope lied again, claiming her father “was mentally ill.” An examination of the record reveals that her father’s alleged “mental illness” was widely refuted.
